Hello fellow readers! I'm back, and this time I bring a special post. This one is not related to the master, but it may be very interesting for some of you. I'm talking about a gamification course I joined. This course is called "Gamificación en el Aula" and you can search for more information about it on Twitter with the hashtag #GamificaMooc.
I personally enrolled in this course because my Master's dissertation is going to be about gamification and I saw a perfect opportunity to learn and discover more things about that amazing methodology. I'm learning about the concept of gamification, the origins, and the different elements around it. The course lasts for a month or so and each week they share a lesson. I'm sure that in the future weeks I will discover many resources to make use of.
By the way, this first lesson was about the concept of gamification. The term has been used from many different perspectives. The most popular nowadays is the one given by Karl Karpp, who says that gamification is "the careful and considered integration of game characteristics, aesthetics and mechanics into a non-game context to promote change in behavior, motivate and engage people." Gamification, indeed, is not only applied to the education field. It was first used in businesses and companies, where it gained popularity.
The gamification course includes some activities that I will try to complete during this month. The first one is creating a work diary where I share an avatar and some content curation. I have already talked about these two elements in previous posts, so I will just share them. For the avatar, I will change the tool. This time I will use ReadyPlayerMe instead of bitmoji to try a new app. However, for the content curation, I will keep using Pearltrees. Remember that you have a widget in the blog's main page where you can find it and check if I update it with new content.
